Doctor & healthcare roleplay!
The Big Toddle is a fun-filled, safari-themed sponsored walk designed for children under five.
It's a wonderful way for little explorers to hop, skip and jump their way to the finish line, all whilst helping the children and young people we support to feel safer, happier, healthier and more hopeful.
CTW will be raising money throughout the week of 8th June with daily walking activities: with a twist!
Each day, children will be faced with different obstacle courses to navigate and move in different ways from walking, running, climbing, hopping, skipping and jumping their way to the finish line.
Every step and every donation will help change childhoods and change lives
£10 could pay for toys and games for a child’s play therapy sessions.
£25 could cover school essentials or activities to promote mental and physical wellbeing.
£240 could help feed a family for a month and make sure their children have breakfast before they go to school.
Sponsorship forms and Just Giving page information coming soon...
Thank you to the families who attended our open morning in April to view the newly hatched chicks! It's fair to say that you as parents seemed just as excited to see them as your children did.
We had a 'name a chick' competition and there were a number of word play entries. The eight names drawn out of the hat were:
Blum Blum
Luca
Eggy Pop
Oakley
Clever Carol
Muddy Marisol
Egbert
Chicky McFuff-Face
We are working towards gaining our Sun Safe Nurseries Accreditation
This national accreditation programme forms part of our duty of care to ensure the health and well-being of your children at CTW. The scheme has been developed by national skin cancer charity 'Skcin', to assist nurseries in implementing a successful Sun Safety Policy whilst educating children to increase knowledge, influence behaviour and prevent skin cancer.
Without adequate protection, a child's delicate skin can easily burn, this can cause cumulative and irreparable damage that could significantly increase their risk of developing skin cancer in later life.
The good news is that skin cancer is almost entirely preventable (around 90% of cases!) and with parental support, simple steps can be undertaken to ensure that your child is protected and can enjoy the sun safely.
A few reminders please:
we ask you to apply sun cream to your children each morning before arriving to CTW. We then re-apply sun cream throughout the day as required.
ensure your children's shoulders and backs are covered with loose fitting, light coloured tops: i.e. T-shirts, shirts, dresses. No bare skin.
children can wear sandals or crocs, however, please ensure they have closed toes. Toes must not be openly visible.
If you forget to apply at home, we have sun cream available at nursery for you to use before your child comes in. A gentle reminder that if children arrive with inappropriate clothing or footwear, we reserve the right to refuse entry.
More details about the accreditation to follow.
We used to have 30 wet bags and now we only have about 5!
Do you have any of our wet bags buried in your laundry pile?
One of the joys of toilet training means you often get to take our wetbags home with your children’s wet or soiled clothes!
We’re down to our last few, please check at home and return any you find - no judgement made!

Partnership link with West London College, Hammersmith
Over the past four years, we have developed a partnership with the Early Years Department at West London College (WCL). We have supported a number of adult learners to gain professional experience through volunteer placements with us as part of the study to gain early years qualifications.
The latest partnership was endorsing WLC's application to create 'Skills Bootcamps for Londoners' as part of the Government’s Skills for Life programme, funded by the UK Government and supported by the Mayor of London. WLC were successful in their bid and have completed the first cohort of Early Years Bootcamp. We hosted two-week placements for participants in April and more are to follow.
We feel it's crucial to support those learners considering a career in Early Years by providing high quality professional experience. It is also a positive experience for our staff as they share their expertise with the next generation of Early Years Practitioners.
A huge thank you to the volunteer parents who helped to repaint the play house and resource sheds. This took place on the open day in April when we invited you in to view the newly hatched chicks.
In discussion with some parents on that day, there was an appetite to extend similar requests for support in further developing CTW for your children.
Saturday 20th June from 10am
Our next project is to develop the grass area into a conservation area / mini-beast bug trail. We would like to invite any parents available to help James prepare the foundations of the area. Plans include small wildlife pond, rockery, arrangement of tree stumps, bug hotels.
We would like to coincide with hosting a 'stay-and-play' session for all CTW families as an opportunity to bring the CTW community together. Come along with your child, play alongside them and meet their CTW friends and families.
Refreshments and a buffet lunch will be provided. The lunch will be a selection of the children's usual tea menu items so that you can sample our menus.
Please sign up below if you would like to attend either the Stay-and-Play and/or help with the conservation area.
