A very warm welcome to the new 'academic' year and, particularly, to those families and children who have recently joined the CTW family.
We've said our goodbyes and goodluck to our out-going Trailblazers as they embark on their journey to 'big' school and a hello to the new pre-school Trailblazers entering the classroom. Similarly, this term we have children transitioning from Discoverers group (our youngest children) into the Adventurers. September is always a refresh where we re-establish nursery routines, revise the allocations of key persons and focus upon "All About Me" as the learning theme.
We celebrate and identify children's family heritage and understand who is in our family (e.g. parents, siblings, grandparents, cousins, friends and extended families). Children also explore the types of homes and community we live in e.g. house or flat (shapes), door numbers and door colours as well as explore their own and others' appearance, eye colour, hair colour, skin tones and heights.
In support of our "All About Me" learning theme, could you please send a couple of photos of your child's immediate family living within your household (including pets) to include on our display. We would also like to invite you to send a photo or two of something you pass by everyday on the way to nursery from your home. These will be used to re-create the community journey to nursery.
Please either send photos to James via email: james@chiswicktoddlersworld.com or via Whattsapp 07980 652219
We are celebrating children's and teachers' individual family heritage and nationally by dressing up in either traditional clothing or wearing colours to match your national flags.

We operate a team approach to the care and learning children receive. All children become to know and work with all teachers, which is unique to CTW and supportive when children begin to transition to different groups. When it comes to specific key children and focused development activities and play, teachers plan and work mainly within the following groupings:
Trailblazers (3&4 year olds)
Carol (Deputy Manager) - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
Adventurers (2&3 year olds)
Emily (Early Years Nursery Practitioner) - Wednesday & Thursday (and some Mondays & Tuesdays)
Naila (Early Years Nursery Practitioner) - Monday & Tuesday
Zarah (Early Years Nursery Practitioner) - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
Explorers (1 - 2 year olds)
Saleha (Early Years Nursery Practitioner) - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
Discoverers (1 year olds)
Umma (Deputy Manager also overseeing Adventurers) - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
Federica (Early Years Nursery Practitioner) - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
Haya (Early Years Nursery Practitioner - apprentice) - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
Working across Adventurers and Discoverers
Stella (Early Years Nursery Assistant) - Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
Vimi (Early Years Nursery Assistant) - Monday AM, Tuesday AM, Wednesday AM, Thursday AM and Friday
All children have the opportunity to play and learn across age groups at different points throughout the day and this cross-generational aspect is an important part of CTW. There is also much learning within our different age groups too where, in particular, where our adult focussed activities support children's individual development. The groups are the Trailblazers (our eldest 3&4 year old children) who are in their final pre-school nursery class. The Adventurers (our middle group of 2&3 year old children). We then have our Explorers - this group is a transitional group (children soon to turn 2 years old) between the Discoverers and Adventurers where they spend time in each grouping fully supported by their key person. Finally, the Discoverers are our youngest 1 year old children).
Welcome to Naila who covered teacher holidays earlier in the summer from an agency and we've subsquently employed her directly. She joins the team on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Congratulations to Federica who has successfully completed her Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification.
Key persons have been allocated for this academic year and James will email you directly with the name of your child's key person.
We will be holding parent consulations later in the term. This is a specific ten minute one-to-one meeting between you and your child's key person to discuss and share your child's learning progress both at nursery and at home.
The exceptional hot summer looks to be ending as we enter the Autumn weather!
A reminder please: your children must have an appropriate outdoor coat (not all in one type suits) everyday. The team can refuse entry if children are not sufficiently prepared with a coat for outdoor play. Please help us by ensuring you bring a coat (with a hood) to nursery in the morning
Please ensure your children's clothes are labelled with their name to aide jumpers & cardigans returning to them at the end of the day.
Thank you for the kind gifts to teachers received from those children and families leaving CTW at the end of August.
The words in the cards written by our pre-school Trailblazer parents sum up the home-from-home environment CTW strives for in developing children to be ready for their next stage of learning at school reception class.
"Through grazed knees, tears, giggles, performacnes and art projects, you've helped make a wonderful kid" Trailblazer parents 2026
Children will be designing their personalised Christmas cards, wrapping paper and mugs!
During the week of 21st September, children will be making their own Christmas Card design, which will be sent home to help you decide if you would like to purchase a Christmas item.
More details to follow.
